In memoriam

Welland, Main Street, 1954:

February 10th was the first anniversary of my father’s death. He spent most of his adult life in Welland, where I grew up.

I was in the middle of a swimmng lesson on the 11th when I realized that part of my new-found ease in swimming comes from remembering his swimming technique. We used to swim in the canal and when we kids left home he stopped swimming.

My brother is still hanging onto Dad’s ashes until he can schedule an interment that gives him the maximum number of days off.

Random thought: Matter erupts

Found in The Chronicle of Higher Education:

“Matter erupts from the void like bubbles in boiling water. Matter appears because it wants to. All matter has will. All matter thinks. All matter creates. All matter lives. Evolution does not create, creativity evolves. The mountains move relative to the wind. Schroedinger’s cat is named Maya.” —marci

Computer problems

laptop computerNow that I’m home with my 2500 new pictures, my laptop computer is having technical problems. So I can’t start culling and uploading the pictorial essay of my trip. I’ll get to it when I can.
