Swim practice October 18: swimming with the Masters

I went to one of the practice sessions of the Downtown Swim Club at the University of Toronto Athletic Centre. There was a water polo tournament in the 50-metre pool, so we used the 25-yard pool. The workout was lane swimming overseen by Coach Kelvin and Alyssa:

  • warm-up: not freestyle, 200 yd. x 2 = 400
  • double pyramid, 25 to 150 with 20-second rests:
    • 25 yd. freestyle + 25 yd. own choice = 50
    • 50 yd. freestyle + 50 yd. own choice = 100
    • 75 yd. freestyle + 75 yd. own choice = 150
    • 100 yd. freestyle + 100 yd. own choice = 200
    • 125 yd. freestyle + 125 yd. own choice = 250
    • 150 yd. freestyle + 150 yd. own choice = 300
    • 125 yd. freestyle + 125 yd. own choice = 250
    • 100 yd. freestyle + 100 yd. own choice = 200
    • 75 yd. freestyle + 75 yd. own choice = 150
    • 50 yd. freestyle + 50 yd. own choice = 100
    • 25 yd. freestyle + 25 yd. own choice = 50

Total: 2200 yd. or 1980 metres.

That’s my longest swim so far.
