The first book in this series is His Majesty’s Dragon. It’s all told from the point of view of a very proper British Naval officer who unexpectedly finds himself transferred to the Aerial Corps. I quite like the books. The dragons carry crews and are used to help bottle up enemy naval fleets, patrol the coastline, etc. Our hero, Will Laurence, is a bit of a square peg in a round hole, finding himself at odds with received wisdom, tradition, his former colleagues, his new colleagues, his family, and the official and public views of the Aerial Corps while trying to do What’s Right and What’s Proper, which aren’t always the same things.
