Mysterious tropical fruits …in Southern California


I went for a walk and I saw trees with oval, waxy leaves and yellow fruit. Identification, anyone?

Update: mystery fruit identified! It’s a loquat. And they’re edible.

    These are loquats. They are delicious. They are sometimes called leechee nuts. Their flavor is that of a sweet pear, but they have three or four large hard seeds in them.
